ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES showed their class in the fight for the playoffs as they fended off MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg 94-89 at home, confirming their win last week over ratiopharm ulm. Rostock wasted a 14-point lead but out-scored the guests 9-3 in the final 114 seconds to improve to 13-12 with 7 wins in the last eight home games. Bryce Hamilton paced six Rostock players in double figures with 19 points. Ludwigsburg fell to 12-13 but they did hold onto the tiebreaker as they beat Rostock 70-64 at home in Round 3. It was the team's first loss under new head coach Lars Masell. Hunter Maldonado scored 24 points and fellow reserve Booker Coplin added 20 points.
Game Summary: Rostock had the biggest lead of the first quarter at 10-6 before Ludwigsburg answered with the next six points. The game went back and forth the rest of the quarter with five lead changes and Rostock led 19-18 after 10 minutes. The scoring went back and forth early in the second frame and Rostock remained ahead. The hosts drained two triples in a 13-0 run over 3 minutes to push the lead to 40-26. Ludwigsburg fought back with an 11-2 surge to pull within 42-37, and it was 44-37 at the break.
The game remained a battle and Rostock did not let Ludwigsburg get back ahead, answering every punch until Booker Coplin scored 7 straight points to tie the game 61-61. Rostock were still ahead after three quarter 66-64. Rostock still had the lead 76-69 after two triples but Ludwigsburg mounted a 10-0 run to nose ahead 79-76. Rostock buried three threes but Coplin hit another triple to put Ludwigsburg up 86-85. The hosts executed down the stretch with a big jumper from Bryce Hamilton to lead 90-86 with 30 seconds left and Nijal Pearson converted four free throws in the final 20 seconds.
Numbers Please: Rostock shot a blistering 52 percent on three-pointers (13 of 25) and converted 21 of 27 free throws compared to just 5 of 7 foul shots for Ludwigsburg.
Player of the Game: Bryce Hamilton was there all game for Rostock in scoring 19 points including 4 three-pointers to go with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
The Germans: Sid-Marlon Theis scored a season-high 13 points with 3 three-pointers and Elias Baggette was just one point off his season-best with 11 points for the winners. At the other end, Jacob Patrick scored 5 points with 2 rebounds and 2 assists and Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann picked up 4 points and 2 blocks.

Wobo tied for second in career blocks: Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann had a quiet game off the bench with 4 points and 2 blocks. But the two blocks gave WoBo a total of 249 in his career, pulling him even with Daniel Theis for the second most in the digital era (since 1998) behind only John Bryant (451).
Lewis shines in return: Rostock got a big boost even before the game as they celebrated the return of JeQuan Lewis. The scoring guard collected 12 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in his first game since March 15.
Ludwigsburg waste career nights from Maldonado, Coplin: Ludwigsburg's two leading scorers Hunter Maldonado and Booker Coplin both notched career highs in scoring in the loss. Maldonado knocked down 5 three-pointers in scoring 24 points off the bench - 4 more than his Bundesliga high. Coplin was playing just his third game since coming over to Ludwigsburg and also hit 5 three-pointers for 20 points - 4 more than his previous best.
What's Up Next: Rostock’s next big game in the fight for the possible playoff spots will come next weekend when they travel to RASTA Vechta. Ludwigsburg for their part will be at home next weekend when they host ALBA BERLIN on Sunday April 13.
